Touring

We, my friend Christne, Carl and I went to the littel town/village Ely. Just outside Cambridge. A beautiful littel town with wounderful surroundings. There is outdoor cafées, small boutiques and of course pups in every corner. You could easily stroll aroud for a couple of hours and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Ely also has a very impressive cathedral. It is huge!!
We stoped for an english tea breake and Carl found an enormous tree to climb in.
This will be all for me.
Goodbye!

Fourth day at school

Hi again
I am tired today. It is very intense at school. The teacher is very strict and the pupils have a tight schedule. But they got the opportunity to learn a lot of different things. They are only 8 yerars old and are already into quite advanced tasks, like writing information texts with some specific contents.

In the afternoon we went punting. It was great. Me, Carl, Emma and Cecilia went together. Next to the Universitys runs a bautiful river where you can go on a tour by boat. It was interesting to listen to the historical storys about the Universitys.  They where all very impressive!!32 nobel price winners have graduated from Trinity Collage. Shakespare was also one of the students.

Mabye I have some energy left for a cider at the local pub...
bye bye

Third day

Hi,
I must say that I am really impressed of how much they use ICT. All subjects are conected somehow to computerwork. The teachers seems to be vey educated in how to use it. My son enjoys the lesson very much even if he does not speak english. Now he does not want to go back home.. He had made some new friends and cant wait for the next day. The days passes very quickly. Today we went out on the schoolyard and made some expolring about plants and animals habitats.
Unfortunately I have not been abel to talk to the teachers very much. They look very buisy. Look at the wounderful classrooms decorations and in the middel is the SMAT board. Used every lesson.

Today the driving went very well :)  The first days was hystrical....:) We live about 30km away from school. And somtimes it has taken us 1.5 hour to get to there because of the traffic. You really need to concentrate allt the time, to not get lost and find the right exits.

All for today..bye

The second day at school.

Hi
Today  is the second day in school. We have had a great day. The school is very nice. They have some really interesting outdoor activities. With a "wilderness area" a littel djungle with trees, bushes and a pond where they can explore nature. They also have a garden where they grow vegetables and plants, which they later on take care of.

When it comes to the classrooms I must say that I am very impressed by the way it is furnished and of all the work on the walls. All the desks are located in small groups wich encourage the children to disuss subjects with each other. All classrooms have their own smartbords which are used all the time. I like the way they gather on the floor infront of the smartbord for discussion and having creative dialogues with the teacher.  The teacher uses a lot of different methods of teaching for eg, groupworks, computer exercices, creative drawings, discussions, exploaring, reflecting etc.
The lesson seems to be very well prepared and vey pedagogical. I was very inspired by watching and listening to what they do.

Today they also had tennis on the scedule. It was fun. The children seamed to enjoy it a lot.

Now it is time to eat....having indulged in a delicious meal it is now time for bed. Colville Primary School in Cambridge

First day i Cambridge,U.K

Finally we have arrived. Me and my nine year old son are doing this yourney togehter. We are attending the same school. Today the weather is wounderful. It is really warm and we have had a nice walk in the park. We are staying with a good friend of mine. We use to live in Cambridge together a looong time ago.

Yesterday was exciting. We arrived late at night. We drove on our own from the airport to Cambridge. It was a challange to drive on the left side in the dark. I am happy I brought my GPS otherwise we would have got lost somewhere...

School starts tomorrow. It is going to be interesting. I hope we will avoid the trafficjam. The traffic is really busy in the mornings. We will have to have an early start.
Bye for now
